Randy is DMTS in Nokia’s Fixed Networks CTO group working on diverse broadband access network topics including disaggregation of access nodes and network function virtualization, fixed wireless networks, and IPTV.  Randy started his 38 year career in telecommunications at Bell Labs working on the first digital video transmission system used by network television at the 1984 Summer Olympic Games.  In 1988 he was a founder of Broadband Technologies, an early Gigabit PON and DSL based broadband access system provider.  In 2001 Randy joined Alcatel to work on IPTV projects like SBC’s Project Lightspeed and he was the co-chair of the ATIS IPTV Interoperability Forum Architecture committee.  Randy has a BSEE from the University of Michigan and a MSEE from MIT.
